Equine Therapy

Equine-assisted psychotherapy fosters a relationship between you and the horse. Through experiential learning activities, such as grooming, leading, and riding, you are able to improve relationship building, emotion-regulation, and confidence, in addition to other skills. This therapy offering begins in a structured environment inside of an arena, located in Apache Junction, at the base of the Superstition Mountains, and can develop into riding on the trail once you are ready and confident with your trusted equine companion. Whether you have been around horses throughout your life or feel intrigued about how they are used in therapy, this modality is for everyone. Not only does it build upon the relationship with the horse, we will also process life’s challenges and incorporate Somatic psychology to allow you to feel decreased stress, resolve trauma, and feel more connection to yourself and life.

Paddle Therapy

Paddle therapy is held on the Salt River near the Granite Reef recreation site. Bring your own kayak or stand up paddle board, or I can provide one for you. This therapy is suitable for all ages and skill levels. The serene environment, gentle movement, and opportunity to process while taking in the sights is the ideal way to decompress while working through any challenges you have been facing. By the end of the session, you will feel lighter and your mind clearer. From this state of increased peace and presence, you can reconnect with yourself, your relationships, and your life, in a way that brings more satisfaction, value, and happiness. The balance of nature, paddling, and talking, will soothe your mind, body, and spirit.

Trail Therapy

Trail therapy is held in the Superstition Mountains, Usery Mountain, or near the Salt River. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned hiker, the type of trail can be accommodated to fit your exact needs. Hike the entire time or slow it down for a nature walk to a quiet place to sit and process whatever is on your mind. Refresh your body with movement, relax your mind with the peaceful surroundings, and notice the ease with which you can talk to someone in this environment. We can talk or simply be in silence, allowing nature to decompress even the most tense nervous systems. For those that struggle with traditional talk therapy in an office setting, the experience will feel novel and natural, finally providing the relief you have been seeking.
