What to Expect

After our initial virtual consultation we will agree on a location to meet for our first session. Breathe, I will send you all of the necessary information for where to meet me and what to bring during your confirmation email. During our first session, you may choose to share about your past history and areas you need healing or you may choose to focus on your future and challenges you want to overcome now. I believe that everyone has an inner wisdom and instinctive knowing that is accessible to guide you through life. My job is to help you slow the inner chatter and become more in tune with your self so that you can listen to this guidance system.

While traditional talk therapy is effective for many, I find for others that the difficulty comes in integrating the skills into real life. Through this experiential model, you will apply what we are discussing in the present moment. You will leave the first session with tangible tools to begin managing stress and emotions and a plan to improve self-care. This therapy can be used in conjuncture with other forms of therapy or on its own.

Therapeutic Approach

Through integration of ecotherapy, somatic psychology, and cognitive behavioral therapy I provide trauma-informed care to help you improve emotion and thought regulation, increase stress management, and release trauma from the body.

Ecotherapy has roots in the belief that we are connected to and impacted by our environment. It relies on nature and its ability to boost mental health to increase the healing benefits of therapy. Nature can transform us through its ability to quiet the mind, ignite positive emotions and sensations, and bring back a sense of adventure and wonder to the world around us.

Somatic psychology is a body centered approach that focuses on the connection of the mind and body. This approach emphasizes that stress and trauma do not solely exist in the mind. I incorporate Somatic Experiencing techniques to increase regulation in the nervous system, reconnect with self, and make meaning from past experiences and how they are integrated into the fabric of who you are today.

Cognitive behavioral therapy addresses the mind and negative thought patterns that keep you stuck. Awareness of the mind and tools to regulate thoughts supports problem solving, identifying triggers, goal setting, and self-talk.
